Can the government please tell me why it is necessary to request communications companies to keep information about us. I mean how many innocent people's chatter will they have to keep because they are trying to spot one paedophile or terrorist?!
At least the government aren't the ones keeping records - we all know where they are likely to leave it!
"Communications data is an essential tool for law enforcement agencies to track murderers, paedophiles, save lives and tackle crime," Ms [Jacqui] Smith said
So in looking for the above mentioned people, they implicate all people who have ever used a mobile phone, have a facebook account (though forcebook keeps our data anyway) and regularly consult the Google oracle. That will be most of the population under 65, suddenly under suspicion even thought they haven't committed any crime.
Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Why are we all now being treated as suspected criminals because of the actions of a few horrible people?
